The France revolution that started in 1789 brought fundamental social, political and economic changes in the history of France. The changes caused by the revolution were both positive and negative in the history of France:

Positive impact:
 1. Destruction of social classes:
The French revolution destroyed the social discriminative class system in France and declared equality for all. The revolution came up with the equality and career open to talents, i.e., appointment and promotion was to based on talents and ability. This led to rise of middle class who had acquired education to positions of responsibilities.

EFFECTS OF THE REIGN OF TERROR IN FRANCE.


1. Loss of lives:

The reign of terror led to massive loss of lives in France. It’s estimated that about 17,000 people were guillotined and this included high level persons like King Louis and his wife Antoinette, Robespierre, Danton, and other persons of high profile were put to death.

THE REIGN OF TERROR IN FRANCE (1793-1794)


The peaceful revolution that began in France on the 5th May 1789 later turned its shape to violence and terror. The reign of terror was therefore, the second most significant stage in the course of the French revolution. The reign of terror started shortly after the death of Mira beau, the president of national assembly and it ended with death of Robespierre who was the leader of the Jacobin political club that actually caused reign of terror in France.

  1. Led to fall of empires:
Four empires disappeared from the map of Europe. The Austro-Hungary, Turkish, Russian and German empire came to an end. As a result of disintegration of these empires, new states emerged. I.e., Iraq, Iran, Syria, Palestine, Jordan for the case of Turkish empire, then Romania, Yugoslavia, Hungary, Czechoslovakia for the case of Austrian (Austro-Hungary).
