WORLD
WAR I 1914 -1918:
World War I refers to the first most disastrous war that was
fought on global scale from 1914 -1918. It was fought between Britain, France,
Russia, Italy, U.S.A and their allies against German, Austro- Hungary,
Turkey, and Bulgaria and
their allies on one hand. The war was fought on land, in the air, on the sea,
under and above the sea by both soldiers and civilians.
The First World War was the climax of international tensions
that had been building up in Europe after the Unification of German and Italy.
Bismarck
prophesied it when he told a friend that “I shall not
see the world war, but you will, it will start from near East.” History
proved him a true prophet when the First World War was sparked off after the
assassination of the Arch-Duke Ferdinand the hair to the Austrian throne and
his wife Sophia in Sarajevo at Bosnia in Serbia on the 28th June,
1914. Other powers joined the conflict which magnified in into European war and
finally world war.
